The sculpted human head is a
personal as well as historical object. The range of its form is as
broad as human emotions. Margaret will lead you through the process of
challenging your own personal perceptions of figurative sculpture, while
learning new ways of working with clay. This hands-on workshop is open
to all skill levels – come and enjoy a weekend sculpting the head, and
visually exploring your own unique personality.

Spouts: Pour it on!
Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts
Gatlinburg, Tennessee
This weekend will take a specialized look at the art and craft of
the pouring vessel, with the emphasis on making spouts that are
successful on both a practical and aesthetic level. We will make
mock-ups of spouts for teapots, coffeepots, pitchers, and ewers, with
demonstrations of fabrication techniques both on and off the wheel.
Sharing of techniques will be encouraged with the hope that we can all
leave with new ideas. This class is intended for more advanced potters
who are comfortable with the basic techniques of pottery making and have
a willingness to learn, share, and engage in general brainstorming. Work
will not be fired, but you leave with wet clay “sketches” and a lot of
ideas. All master classes require advanced technical and conceptual
skills.
