Ron Meyers
Demonstration Workshop Thrown and Altered Clay Works with Slip Decoration

Slide Show and Potluck: Friday the 27th at 7 p.m.
Jan 28 - 29 Ron Meyers
Workshop cost: $130

Ron Meyers has been working in clay for over 30 years. He is an internationally known artist whose work is collected in the US and abroad.  Meyers, who recently retired from teaching ceramics at the University of Georgia describes his pottery as utilitarian. Meyer's draws on pots using a variety of colored slips. His work uses images with wildly rendered
and often humorous figures of both humans and animals. Ron's work has  been featured on the March/April 2005 cover of Clay Times.

On Saturday Ron will show various throwing and altering techniques in making functional shapes using a red earthenware clay. Sunday will be a continuation of throwing pots plus Ron will demonstrate finishing and decorating the pieces using colored slips and stains. Ron plans to show slides of historical influences and his own work each day.

Education: Master's Degree in Art Education, Rochester Institute of technology for American Craftsmen.
