A juried exhibition of work by artists through their exploration
in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, beads, basketry, handmade
paper & mixed media. The selection will be based upon
technique/execution, quality, uniqueness of work & originality.
This juried exhibition is open to US citizens age 18 and up. All work must be original, completely finished and ready to install.

Juror
Gail M. Brown
is an Independent
Curator whose focus is to enhance visibility and education about
contemporary craft in the larger visual arts community. She
trained as a print maker at the Philadelphia College of Art, and
she has been watching the contemporary crafts movement since the
early 1970's. She curates focused exhibitions which share the
exceptional work of mature and mid-career artists and introduce
younger makers. She also lectures and writes on craft and
professional practices for emerging artists. Her impressive
resume includes exhibitions curated for NCECA; the Brookfield
Craft Center; the Folk Art Center of the SHCG; and U Mass
Dartmouth. A selection of exhibits she has curated include: The
Edges of Grace: Provocative, Uncommon Craft at the Fuller Craft
Museum; Life In/Sight:
The Human Experience at the Kentucky Museum of Arts & Crafts; of
lineage and legacy: Jewelry & Metals at the Savannah College of
Art & Design; Next Iconoclasts at the Oregon College of Art; RE/ACTIONS(s)
at the Craft Alliance, St. Louis, MO; and DIS/Arming Domesticity
at NCECA, Philadelphia, PA. Upcoming exhibitions include: FRESH
Figurines for the Fuller Craft Museum, 2011, The Art of
Seduction for Howard Community College, 2012 and A Feast of
Beads for the Facere Art Jewelry Gallery, Seattle, 2012.

Exhibition Dates: April 6 – 27, 2012
DelecTABLE: The Fine Art of Dining. Juried Exhibit of
Functional Ceramics – April 6-27, 2012 at the Art Students
League of Denver. Submission Deadline: January 7, 2012. $30
Entry Fee for up to 5 images (along with one detail shot per
work for a max. total of 10 images). Juror: Nick Joerling. US
Residents may submit. Sales are required.
About the Juror:
Nick Joerling is a
full-time studio potter who has maintained a studio in Penland,
North Carolina since the mid-1980's. He received a B.A. in
History from the University of Dayton, Ohio, and an M.F.A. in
Ceramics from Louisiana State University in 1986. He has taught
in craft programs in the United States and abroad, been widely
reviewed and exhibited, and is represented in public and private
collections.
Specifications: Enter up to five functional pieces that would be included at a dinner table, i.e. place settings, serving vessels and platters, functional sets, or dinner table décor (vases, candle holders, etc.) Please note your number #1 image submitted may be used for publicity purposes.
· Work submitted must be innovative and original in design and must be a personal expression of the artist’s intent.
· Work submitted through the application process may be exemplary of work to be exhibited in the show (i.e., it must represent the same making, glazing and firing techniques). The Juror will select work on this basis; actual works sent for exhibit can differ from slides as long as they represent the style and quality of work submitted in the application.
· Works must be made entirely out of ceramic materials (exceptions are limited to handles or knobs made out of bone, cane, wood, etc.), that are an integral part of the piece.
· Work submitted for review must have been completed by the artist within the past three (3) years.
· Size restrictions: each piece or set not exceed 30 inches in any dimension or 20 pounds in weight. If accepted, the artist may be requested to send more than one piece for the exhibit, e.g. one-to-four place settings and one or two serving piece(s)/set(s).
· Accepted work which displays poor craftsmanship or does not represent the style submitted as digital entry images will be withdrawn from the exhibit.
·
Ceramic artwork
must be available for sale. The League will retain a 40%
commission on works sold.

Kirkland Arts Center is proud to present the fourth installment of its biennial contemporary ceramics exhibition, Clay? IV. Juried by University of Washington, School of Art Professors Doug Jeck, Jamie Walker, and Akio Takamori,Clay? IV explores the versatility of clay as a medium of expression. Showcasing a range of sizes, scales, subject matter, and techniques, the artwork of this exhibition is both a testament to the enduring legacy of clay and to the future of the field.
Submissions open to all clay-based artwork.

Kirkland Arts Center provides insurance for
all artwork while exhibited at the KAC Gallery, but does not
cover shipping costs or shipping insurance. Artwork must be
delivered to KAC by the artist or through a mail carrier such as
FedEx or DHL. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the
artist.

The Nineteenth San Angelo National Ceramic Competition
The Nineteenth San Angelo National Ceramic Competition is sponsored by the San Angelo Museum Endowment for Ceramic Events, Darlene and John Williams and Trinity Ceramic Supply Inc. This show has been organized by and will be held at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in San Angelo, Texas. Angelo State University works in close cooperation with the Museum. The exhibition highlights a broad range of attitudes in the clay medium from functional to sculptural work. The Museum devotes its entire space to the show. In the last competition over 100 works were displayed.
The competition is open to all artists who are residents of the United States, Canada, or Mexico. All work, both functional and sculptural, must have been completed within the last two years. Works previously accepted into this competition are ineligible.

Big Fish, Small Pot V - Fifth International Small Teapot Show &
Competition

Exhibition Dates: April 14, 2012 through June 30, 2012
This competition is open all artists over the
age of 18. All entries must be teapots composed primarily of
ceramic materials completed by the artist within the last three
years. Up to three entries may be submitted by each artist for
the single registration price.
This competition is specifically aimed at small teapots. The
teapot as a functional item is believed to have originated in
China (perhaps the Yixing area) as a personal drinking vessel.
As such, teapots were not large. Over time, the form evolved to
suit the desires of the users. This show celebrates the origin
and diversity of the teapot. In the spirit of these personal,
functional items, all teapots entered in this competition shall
not exceed a volume of 16 ounces (approximately 500 mL).

Mug Shots: National Juried Cup Exhibition 2012
About the Juror: Gail Kendall, a local potter and retired professor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ceramics program, has become known for her hand-built pottery, which integrates influences from European and Middle Eastern pottery traditions. Kendall has been the recipient of many awards and grants over the years including: NCECA's Excellence in Teaching Award, The Layman Award, and various research grants including recent travel abroad to Morocco and Hawaii. Kendall's work has been exhibited widely and been included in invitational exhibits at: the Minnesota Pottery Tour, Shaeffer, MN; Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis, MN; The Clay Studio; Philadelphia, PA; Museum of Nebraska Art; Anderson Ranch Art Center; Penland School of Crafts, Penland, NC; NCECA Conference, Lexington, KY; and Red Lodge Ceramics Center, Red Lodge, MT. Kendall has lectured, led workshops, and juried exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad, including the LUX Center for the Arts. Gail Kendall's work has been reviewed in various publications, such as: Ceramics: Art & Perception, Ceramics Monthly, and Studio Potter Magazine.
Submissions are open to all artists working in the medium of clay residing in the United States of America.

Important: Lark Crafts will only publish photos of entries containing text and images that are free of copyright or for which the artist (or approved institution) holds copyright.All visuals submitted must represent work that is original in design. Please choose work that reflects the book’s concept. A maximum of four entries per artist is allowed. An entry may consist of no more than two visuals: an overall shot and one detail (or alternate view).
All entries must be mailed in the same packet. We do not accept e-mailed submissions.
